Motivation
As a former SME entrepreneur who experienced bankruptcy, I realized how much support was missing to prevent or overcome such a difficult and stressful period. This insight led me to become an active advisor in 2008 with Tussenstap, now Dyzo vzw.
In 2017, I shared a personal testimonial during a European insolvency event, contributing to the preparation of the EU SME “Second Chance” proposal, which culminated in the adoption of Directive (EU) 2019/1023. Since then, I have continuously promoted and developed initiatives to assist entrepreneurs in distress. Supporting them not only strengthens resilience and economic stability but also reduces collateral damage—ranging from personal challenges for the entrepreneur to broader societal impacts.
Because when we help entrepreneurs rise again, we empower innovation, preserve jobs, and build a stronger, more sustainable economy for everyone.
Contribution (proposing)
EWEUN is a network with significant potential and pressing needs. I aim to support its development by addressing the critical yet often underestimated issue of “stressed companies.”
My long-term goal is to strengthen connections with the European academic community and empower member organizations and their mentors through the integration of new scientific insights.
Additionally, I seek to develop an early warning system to detect global stress symptoms in companies caused by external disruptions, while focusing on local regions.
This will enable us to anticipate challenges and create the necessary time to discuss and implement solutions that member organizations and their mentors in other regions or countries can apply effectively—ultimately strengthening the resilience of SMEs.
